In the aftermath of World War 4, the European Union announced a new program of peace: a global games where former enemies would no longer compete against their machines — but alongside them.
Founded in 2068 in Geneva, the AI-Lympic Committee spent four years writing rules that allow humans and bots to play as a single national team. After fourteen candidate cities, Brussels was chosen — capital of the Union, symbol of reconciliation.
The 2074 edition is the first ever where every team on every field will be mixed. No human-only divisions. No bot-only leagues. Only one species: player.
Mixed Team Disciplines
Six team sports redesigned for hybrid rosters. Each nation fields one team. Each team fields humans and bots — together, simultaneously, on the same field.
Hybrid Football
5 humans + 6 bots per side. Three halves of 25 minutes.
Tandem Volleyball
3 humans + 3 bots. Vertical-jump assist permitted.
Synaptic Basketball
2 humans + 3 bots. Neural pass-routing enabled.
Drone-Relay Handball
4 humans + 2 bots + 1 drone keeper.
Quantum Hockey
Mixed 6v6 on photonic ice.
Cyber Rugby Sevens
4 humans + 3 bots. Adaptive scrum mechanics.
Stade des Lumières
A morphing pop-up arena rising over the Plateau du Heysel — engineered by Tented Dreams with their flagship DXC-140 platform and the first deployment of self-extracting adaptive canvas.
Plateau du Heysel
A 30,000 m² parcel north of the historic Atomium, served by three metro lines and the new Hyperloop spur from Antwerp. The VIP village occupies an adjacent 2,400 m² plot.
10 Smart Poles
Telescopic nano-reinforced carbon-titanium masts, each gyro-stabilised and wirelessly synced. They lift a 40 m oval shell capable of morphing into three exterior shapes within 12 hours.
Digital Canvas
A translucent nanofabric laced with photovoltaic fibre and millions of micro-LEDs. Roof and façades double as a city-scale display — projecting live matches across the Brussels skyline.

An accelerated programme — condensed from Tented Dreams' original 50-week proposal through parallel pole-drilling crews, drone-fabricated formwork and a 30 FTE on-site team working three shifts.

My building still has a hole in the roof from the WW4 drone strikes and the mayor pours €420 MILLION of OUR money into a stadium?? Fix the damn hospitals first. My grandmother died waiting for a scanner the city 'couldn't afford'. This is a disgrace.
Has ANYONE thought about my kids? Combat-class bots walking around the Heysel for 3 weeks, 'decommissioned' or not. My son still has nightmares from the war. I will NOT let him near that stadium. Where is the risk assessment? Where is the parents' consultation? Nowhere.
50% city funding. FIFTY PERCENT. While Rue de Ribaucourt is still rubble. Mayor Declerck should be answering questions in a tribunal, not cutting ribbons. We voted for reconstruction, not a glow-in-the-dark tent for tourists and their robot pets.
Finally some good news!! My terrace is 200m from the stadium — IF the city gives us the promised tax break and a vendor licence for the 21 days, I'll triple my staff. Bots drink too (lubricant cocktails 🍸). Conditional support — don't screw the locals like last time.
Mixed teams? My cousin lost both legs to a combat bot in '69 and we're supposed to cheer them on a football pitch? Read the room, Brussels. Some of us aren't done grieving. A stadium does NOT heal a city.
From a medical standpoint: 92,000 spectators + autonomous units + an unproven crowd-AI in a post-war city with HALF its emergency wards still offline. We are one glitch away from a mass-casualty event. I have written to the Bureau three times. No reply.
Booked out for the full 3 weeks at 4× rates. Provided the city actually delivers the Hyperloop spur on time (we have doubts), this is the lifeline our sector needed since the war. Bring the bots, bring the cameras, bring the money.
I live 400m from the site. They closed Avenue Houba for 'pre-construction' SIX MONTHS ago. My commute went from 12 min to 55. Construction drones flying material over my balcony at 6am — illegal under municipal noise code 14-B and nobody enforces it.
