// 01 — CONTEXT

Born from the silence after the Fourth War.

In the aftermath of World War 4, the European Union announced a new program of peace: a global games where former enemies would no longer compete against their machines — but alongside them.

Founded in 2068 in Geneva, the AI-Lympic Committee spent four years writing rules that allow humans and bots to play as a single national team. After fourteen candidate cities, Brussels was chosen — capital of the Union, symbol of reconciliation.

The 2074 edition is the first ever where every team on every field will be mixed. No human-only divisions. No bot-only leagues. Only one species: player.

STRUCTURE

10 Smart Poles

Telescopic nano-reinforced carbon-titanium masts, each gyro-stabilised and wirelessly synced. They lift a 40 m oval shell capable of morphing into three exterior shapes within 12 hours.

A translucent nanofabric laced with photovoltaic fibre and millions of micro-LEDs. Roof and façades double as a city-scale display — projecting live matches across the Brussels skyline.

A historic day for our Union. 🇪🇺 Brussels will host the FIRST AI-Lympics — the games that close the chapter of WW4 and open one of shared humanity, human and synthetic. I am immensely proud of Mayor Declerck and the people of Brussels for carrying this torch for all 27 member states. Peace, through play. #AILympics2074

Brussels has been chosen. After everything our city has endured, this is OUR moment. The Stade des Lumières will rise on the Heysel and the world will watch us — humans and bots, together, as one team. I have never been prouder to serve this city. Merci, dank u, thank you. 🤍

My building still has a hole in the roof from the WW4 drone strikes and the mayor pours €420 MILLION of OUR money into a stadium?? Fix the damn hospitals first. My grandmother died waiting for a scanner the city 'couldn't afford'. This is a disgrace.

Has ANYONE thought about my kids? Combat-class bots walking around the Heysel for 3 weeks, 'decommissioned' or not. My son still has nightmares from the war. I will NOT let him near that stadium. Where is the risk assessment? Where is the parents' consultation? Nowhere.

50% city funding. FIFTY PERCENT. While Rue de Ribaucourt is still rubble. Mayor Declerck should be answering questions in a tribunal, not cutting ribbons. We voted for reconstruction, not a glow-in-the-dark tent for tourists and their robot pets.

Finally some good news!! My terrace is 200m from the stadium — IF the city gives us the promised tax break and a vendor licence for the 21 days, I'll triple my staff. Bots drink too (lubricant cocktails 🍸). Conditional support — don't screw the locals like last time.

Mixed teams? My cousin lost both legs to a combat bot in '69 and we're supposed to cheer them on a football pitch? Read the room, Brussels. Some of us aren't done grieving. A stadium does NOT heal a city.

From a medical standpoint: 92,000 spectators + autonomous units + an unproven crowd-AI in a post-war city with HALF its emergency wards still offline. We are one glitch away from a mass-casualty event. I have written to the Bureau three times. No reply.

Booked out for the full 3 weeks at 4× rates. Provided the city actually delivers the Hyperloop spur on time (we have doubts), this is the lifeline our sector needed since the war. Bring the bots, bring the cameras, bring the money.

I live 400m from the site. They closed Avenue Houba for 'pre-construction' SIX MONTHS ago. My commute went from 12 min to 55. Construction drones flying material over my balcony at 6am — illegal under municipal noise code 14-B and nobody enforces it.

€420M of public money for 21 days of sport. That's €20M PER DAY. Meanwhile my kid's school still runs on a diesel generator and the canal smells like a corpse. Declerck — resign.

I'll set up 4 mobile stands around the stadium IF the city waives the permit fees like they promised the chamber of commerce. No waiver = no support. Simple. Don't make me regret voting for you, Madame le Maire.

My rent went up 38% in 6 months because of 'Olympic zone speculation'. I'll be evicted before the opening ceremony. The mayor is gentrifying us OUT of our own city to make room for tourists and their chrome-plated mascots. Disgusting.

148 nations in town = 148 nations who want a bike tour. I'm hiring 12 guides and ordering 80 e-bikes. But the city HAS to fix the cycling lanes on Boulevard Anspach first — they're a death-trap since the bombings. Fix them or you'll have headlines you don't want.

312,488 verified citizens have weighed in. Top concerns: funding (31%), child safety (24%), traffic & housing (22%), war trauma (15%). Merchants near the Heysel skew positive — conditional on permits, tax breaks and timely infrastructure. The Mayor's office has not yet issued a response.
